Hi Boys & Girls! Welcome to the Campfire!

I love springtime in Montana! This morning, Papa Tim and I went for a walk around the mountain and meadows by our house. We were looking for wildflowers. First we saw little buttercups hugging the ground. Then Papa saw a wild paschal lily. Soon we saw yellow bells and even one shooting star!

That’s when the robins spotted us. They started saying, “Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!” That’s the call birds use when they want to say “Watch out! Danger!” When birds have babies in their nests, they are very protective of them. If people or animals come too close, the birds will attack!

Papa and I were careful not to get too close to the robin babies!

God is kind of like the wild birds, too. Psalm 91:4 (NLT) tells us that when we depend on God to protect us, he keeps us safe. “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”

Does God have wings and feathers? No! But King David compared God to a bird protecting its babies, and said that God is protective just like that.

So when I saw the robins sitting in the trees chirping at me, I remembered how God guards me just like those robins are guarding their babies. It helped me to trust that God has my life in his hands, and I felt safe. I know that my heart will always belong to God, because I have given it to him forever.

We have a forever God. When the baby robins grow up and fly away, their parents will not follow them and watch out for them. But as we grow up and grow older, God still goes with us and protects us, even if our bodies grow old and die. Our hearts are forever, and they are safe with God!

Until our next campfire, remember that God is watching over you!

Happy hugs,

Montana Gramma
