Have you ever slept outside at night? In the summertime, the forest smells so good! Night creatures creep around, and sometimes you might see a fox or a deer walk by on their way to the meadows. Or you might see an owl swoop through the sky hunting for mice. Up above, the stars shine and twinkle in the night sky.
Did you know that when you have Jesus in your heart, God looks down from heaven and he sees the light of Jesus twinkling in you? Yes! And when you pray, those prayers are like shooting stars that fly straight up to God, lighting up the darkness of our world. When you do good things to help others, you are like a bright star in the sky that points to God. Other people will see the light of Jesus in you when you show your love by helping them.
Jesus told us, “You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:14-16, NLT)
Would you like to send a shooting star prayer to God? What would you like to say to him? I like to tell God how much I love him then I tell him what I need. He always listens! It’s like he’s up there in the sky just waiting for my shooting star prayer! He catches it in his hand and treasures may words. He always answers in the way that is best for me, too.
What can you do today to be a shining star for Jesus to others around you? Is there anyone you know who is sad? How about someone who needs help working around their home because they are sick or hurt or very tired? What can you do today to light up their life for Jesus?
Until our next campfire, let your light shine!
Happy hugs,
Montana Gramma
